Job Summary
Case Manager for Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan's Housing Support Services program provides home-based, individualized housing-focused case management to help single individuals and families overcome barriers to housing and maintain housing stability. Responsibilities include coordinating with clients and landlords to keep clients housed, assisting with public assistance and housing-related paperwork, driving as needed to client locations, traveling to different neighborhoods, maintaining accurate documentation across HMIS and case notes, adhering to a housing-first model, and facilitating family-strengthening, social, educational, and community integration activities. Required and preferred qualifications emphasize a High School Diploma/GED, potential college experience in human services, CPR/First Aid, valid driver’s license with Chauffeur’s license eligibility, and experience in counseling or housing-related fields. Skills highlighted include strong communication, organizational, documentation, confidentiality, intercultural sensitivity, problem-solving, and ability to work independently and with diverse populations. Adherence to safety policies and driving policies is noted, along with the ability to support tenants and coordinate eviction-prevention efforts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- some college in human services field preferred
- Licensed Social Worker preferred
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, insurable on company policy with Chauffeur’s license, or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Knowledge/experience in counseling, human services, housing, and/or substance abuse preferred
