Job Summary
Case Manager for a tax law firm handling the full lifecycle of tax-law cases from intake to resolution. The role requires coordinating with attorneys, clients, and government agencies (including the IRS and state tax authorities); preparing, organizing, and maintaining case files, legal documents, and tax records; tracking deadlines and providing regular updates to supervising attorneys; conducting preliminary tax research on regulations and case law; assisting in drafting correspondence, settlement documents, and procedural filings; liaising with clients to gather documentation and communicate case progress; and supporting billing and file management processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, can prioritize in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with high-level executives, and has 3–5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in a legal-related field or a paralegal/tax credential.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a case manager, paralegal, or legal assistant in a tax or legal setting (required)
- Solid understanding of federal and state tax law, IRS procedures, and tax dispute resolution processes
- Proficiency with legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of legal documentation, filing procedures, and compliance standards
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Bachelor's degree in legal studies, accounting, business, or a related field preferred
- Paralegal certification or tax-related credential (e.g., Enrolled Agent) is a plus
