Job Summary
Conduct case management for children in emergency shelter and group home placement, maintaining a caseload in accordance with agency policies and licensing standards. Accept crisis calls to provide support to families, coordinate referrals and service planning, and document progress toward risk reduction and positive outcomes. Act as a liaison with legal providers and immigration court, while engaging children and sponsors in the casework process. Maintain weekly contacts with families, compile accurate records, and participate in weekly case staffing and supervision. Continually assess changes affecting child safety and implement safety protocols, including emergency evacuations. Support foster parent recruitment and recruitment efforts. Work Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services field
- 1-year related experience and/or training including experience working in crisis intervention
- First aid certification
- CPR certification
- Emergency behavior intervention certification
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
- Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics
- Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals
- Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment
- Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
- Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures
- Receive an annual Influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption as a medical or religious accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate degree from accredited program/university in a related field
- Experience working in child welfare, case management, and with immigrant populations
