Job Summary
Greet guests warmly, place orders using menu knowledge and situational selling, and package food and beverage orders promptly while communicating via headset to expedite service. Handle cash and credit transactions accurately, input orders into the computer system, and manage guest complaints by involving managers as needed. Maintain a clean carryout area, monitor bakery and retail stock levels, safely handle food prep equipment, and assist with expediting meals to dine-in guests, pre-bussing tables, and greeting guests. Answer phone calls using company scripts and perform all other duties as assigned. This role supports Bob Evans' mission of serving high-quality farm-fresh food with a focus on family dining and community roots.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years related experience
- Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant
- Ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise
- Detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to prioritize, good organizational skills
- Ability to effectively handle guest complaints and involve the manager at the appropriate time
- Ability to answer phone calls using company script per meal period in a fast and friendly manner
- Ability to accurately input carry out orders into the computer system
- Ability to safely handle food prep equipment such as beverage machines, salad cases, etc.
- Ability to monitor the cleanliness, organization and stock levels of the bakery and retail areas
- Ability to stand for entire shift and walk for long periods of time without rest or sitting down
- Ability to push, lift, carry and transfer up to 50 pounds
- Ability to reach with hands
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to bend and stoop
- Ability to verbally communicate with others
- Ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

- Understands and utilizes menu knowledge and situational selling techniques when placing orders for carryout guests
- Ability to package food and beverage orders, condiments, and appropriate items promptly and accurately
- Ability to ensure items are prepared properly and on a timely basis, following the company standards
- Ability to communicate professionally with guests to determine their needs and help them with the menu selections
- Ability to wear a headset to communicate with managers and teammates to help expedite the guest experience
- Ability to accurately account for all receivables including cash, credit cards, coupons, and gift cards
- Ability to practice safe food and beverage handling and always clean up
- Ability to keep carry out area clean of debris and keep the general work area stocked and clean
- Ability to assist in greeting guests and escorting guests to tables
- Ability to assist in cashing guests out if the cashier is not available
- Ability to assist with pre-bussing tables, rolling silverware or any other needed task
- Ability to assist in the expediting and delivery of meals to dine-in guests
