Job Summary
Carrier Sales Representative responsible for sourcing and procuring carrier services, negotiating freight rates, and building long-term carrier relationships. Develops and grows a book of business for carriers; communicates with drivers/dispatchers/customers; updates loads in a transportation management system; ensures on-time delivery and cost efficiency; collaborates with internal sales on market trends, pricing strategy, and account implementation; selects and solicits rates/bids from carriers; maintains high compliance with DOT requirements; may work evenings or weekends to assist customers. Key skills include negotiation, problem-solving, communication, market knowledge of shipping lanes, and strong vendor management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience selling Asset & Non-Asset Freight
- Ability to persuade, motivate, influence, and negotiate with others
- Ability to thrive under deadlines, drive results, and multitask
- Logistics operations or carrier sales experience
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to negotiate and foster relationships
- General knowledge of transportation and the ability to learn quickly
- Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills are a must
- Ability to make decisions based on market conditions
