Job Summary
The Carrier Sales Representative sources, negotiates, and secures carriers and drivers to cover freight in a cost-effective, service-focused manner. Responsibilities include managing daily dispatch operations, tracking shipments from pickup to delivery, collecting and verifying carrier documentation for closeout and billing, building and maintaining long-term carrier relationships, collaborating with Account Managers for operational support and pricing input, assisting with customer service and account management, staying informed on market conditions and rate trends to maintain competitive pricing, generating new carrier leads, onboarding qualified partners to expand the network, and proactively identifying and resolving shipment or service issues. The role requires strong Excel and TMS capabilities, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or customer service (3+ years preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of carrier sales experience with focus on drayage (3+ years preferred)
- Strong understanding of transportation and drayage operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Strong negotiation, persuasion, and relationship-building abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
