Job Summary

Carrier Development Representative responsible for identifying, sourcing, and developing strategic carrier relationships within Redwood's freight brokerage to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include expanding knowledge of the transportation industry, building and maintaining carrier profiles through research and networking, engaging carrier partners via phone (80+ dials/day), understanding macro-market conditions and their impact on truckload rates and capacity, negotiating freight rates to motor carriers, coordinating customer freight with available carrier equipment, providing proactive carrier support, resolving issues in transit, verifying freight charges and Bill of Lading, addressing payables discrepancies, and researching/developing new carrier relationships to expand capacity for customer opportunities. Requires excellent communication, networking, negotiation, problem-solving skills, and a results-driven mindset. Standard schedule is full-time with a hybrid work arrangement after training; onsite during initial training with four in-office days and one remote day per week after training.
