Job Summary
Carrier Development Representative is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and developing strong carrier relationships within Redwood's freight brokerage to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Key duties include building and maintaining carrier profiles through research and networking, making high-volume outbound calls (targeting 80+ dials/day), understanding macro-market conditions and their impact on rates and capacity, negotiating freight rates to motor carriers, coordinating customer freight with available carrier equipment, providing proactive carrier support, resolving issues in transit, and verifying freight charges and bill of lading discrepancies. The role emphasizes relationship-building with carriers, leveraging a portfolio of networks to introduce new capacity, and delivering exceptional customer service. Strong communication, networking, negotiation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are required; sales or related experience is a plus. The position is full-time with a hybrid schedule following training, located onsite in Chicago, IL.
