Job Summary
Design, construct, and maintain woodwork, structural elements, fittings, and furniture by selecting, laying out, joining, and assembling materials in accordance with the Building Code, by-laws, and National Fire Code. Interpret blueprints and drawings to determine materials and equipment, then calculate costs and prepare project schedules. Install acoustic and gypsum ceiling systems, steel stud wall systems, fire doors, and hardware while performing minor roof repairs, clean-up, and demolition as required. Arrange work schedules with user departments, assign tasks to staff, provide training, and manage inventory of supplies and tools.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Carpenter recognized by the Province of British Columbia
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Testing
- Criminal record check
