Job Summary

Repair tables, shelves, desks, and wooden fixtures; install acoustic drop ceilings, locks, doors, and sheet rock walls; construct apparatus from blueprints; and perform general carpentry work on buildings, doors, windows, and furniture. Utilize standard hand and power tools including joiners, lathes, routers, sanders, power saws, and drill presses. Transport tools and supplies to job sites, perform assigned work orders, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Maintain safe working conditions by identifying and correcting unsafe areas. Snow removal, sand bagging, and property cleaning are also included.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License possessed for at least 6 months
  • Defensive with Tulsa County within 6 months of hired
  • Broad trade knowledge equivalent to two years of training received in a formal apprentice program in carpentry
  • Over three years full-time paid employment in general carpentry or related work
  • Equivalent combination of education or experience, substituting one additional year of full-time paid employment for one year of the required education with a maximum substitution of two years
  • Skill in the use of hand tools, power equipment and materials common to the carpentry trade
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the carpentry trade
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to plan, lay out, and perform carpentry work
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and sketches
  • Ability to plan, organize and work with others
  • Ability to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform heavy manual labor
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization
  • Ability to work subtract, multiply, divide fractions and the fundamentals of place and solid geometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages to situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
