Job Summary
Construct and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes. Study blueprints and sketches to determine material requirements and dimensions, then prepare layouts and mark cutting lines using hand and power tools. Shape materials, assemble components with fasteners, and verify structural trueness with levels and plumb bobs. Erect frameworks, install subflooring, and fit trim, doors, and window frames. Requires a high school diploma or GED, appropriate training, and the ability to lift 100 pounds while climbing scaffolds.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Appropriate training and experience
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders
- Ability to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects and materials
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to see well (either naturally or with correction)
- Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
- Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems
- Ability to plan work and select proper tools
- Ability to compare and see differences in the size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects
- Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams
- Ability to perform a variety of duties which may change often
- Ability to rate information using standards that can be measured or checked
