Job Summary

Install, repair, and maintain fixtures, fittings, and equipment across guest accommodations, public areas, bars, theaters, and lounges while adhering to Company, National, and International standards. Participate in vessel preparation for arrival and departure, including mooring operations and tendering under the Staff Captain's instruction. Execute general maintenance, install carpets and tiles, repair teak decks, manage potable water connections, and ensure proper stowage of materials and equipment. Maintain inventory, assist with the key card system, and enforce uniform and grooming standards. Adhere to all safety drills, pollution prevention regulations, and operating procedures. Join the Marella Explorer during dry dock from October 31 to November 26 in Palma de Mallorca. Valid STCW certificates and fluent English are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the rank
  • All valid and up-to-date STCW certificates
  • Valid STCW95 certification
  • Appropriate certification as required by regulations
  • Good understanding of carpentry, woodwork, maintenance and repair
  • Extensive experience in subordinate positions and on board passenger ships in a similar role
  • Physically and medically fit
  • Moral integrity
  • Coast Guard, Port State Control and Public Health experience
  • Fluent English (verbal, written and technical)
  • Ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to live in close quarters, share limited space with cabin mates
  • Well groomed and neat appearance
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of performance
  • Punctual
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to be flexible, well organized, self managed and motivated
  • Handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly

  • Ability to observe and enforce uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies
  • Must be available for the period 31st of October – Palma de Mallorca to 26th of November – Palma de Mallorca
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the vessel with light traffic and distracting environments
  • Must be able to work overtime and irregular schedules
  • Must be able to attend mooring during arrival and departure
  • Must be able to maintain Public Health standards
  • Must be able to participate in tendering operations under the Staff Captain's instruction when the vessel is at anchor
  • Must be able to participate in safe zodiac operation as per Staff Captains instructions
  • Must be able to keep the Staff Captain and Officer on duty promptly and fully informed of all problems and matters of significance
  • Must be able to account for ensuring that Company, National and International standards are maintained and meeting requirements
  • Must be able to practice good people management, maintaining proper conduct within the Deck department and other departments around the ship
