Job Summary
Adjust and inspect all building components including windows, doors, roofs, floors, and finishes to detect hazards and malfunctions. Maintain, clean, and lubricate structural elements while repairing or replacing faulty items to restore original conditions. Document all repairs and maintenance activities in service order slips and building databases. Respond to assigned service orders and execute new installations to minimize waste and meet manufacturer specifications. Provide assistance to other department trades and support major campus events like commencement. Participate in snow removal activities as needed to maintain campus operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent technical school certification
- Two to three years of related experience and/or training
- Valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year
- Maintain throughout employment an insurable or a satisfactory driving record
- Successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment
- Must be able to function well in a team/community environment
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets (MSDS), mechanical drawings, operating, maintenance, repair, installation, and procedure instructions or manuals
- Ability to write out routine reports, fill out equipment logs and provide descriptions of equipment problems and needs
- Ability to describe and explain specific problems and operating requirements on architectural issues to other mechanics and immediate supervisor
- Ability to apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Regularly climb and/or balance up to 10 feet
- Frequently climb and/or balance up to 25 feet
- Regular use of close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Acceptable background check
- Must be in good standing with no documented disciplinary actions for previous two years
