Carpenter

Performs general carpentry and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade facilities, structures, and utilities. Works both inside and outside of buildings and structures to perform all types of rough and finish carpentry, constructs, repairs, modifies, and maintains housing, commercial, and industrial buildings. Reads and uses blueprints and engineering drawings; measures, lays out, and machines wood, tile, plastics, and other materials; uses hand and power tools; opens door locks and maintains keying systems; assists other trades; adheres to safety practices on a remote Wake Island site with on-site housing. Rotation consists of three months on the island and one month off unpaid; transportation provided by government-sponsored aircraft; union position with hourly pay. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, five years journeyman carpentry experience, locksmith certification or ability to obtain, valid driver's license, ability to pass NACI and medical clearance for long-term residency in a remote location.
