Job Summary
Lead and oversee all Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability programs across manufacturing, laboratory, distribution, and office environments. Develop and execute site-level EHS strategy aligned with global standards, manage the EHS budget, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and EPA requirements. Serve as the primary technical expert for site EHS matters, manage hazardous materials and waste programs, and provide Incident Command leadership during emergencies. Utilize Lean principles to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental impact reduction while developing and delivering EHS training programs. Work within a multi-building campus supporting approximately 1,300 employees, with up to 20% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced Degree plus 6+ years of EHS experience in regulated industries
- Bachelor's Degree plus 8+ years of EHS experience in regulated industries
- Minimum 5 years of leadership/management experience (including direct staff management)
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, OSHA/Cal-OSHA standards, EPA requirements, and EHS management systems
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing EHS programs and training initiatives
- Experience managing hazardous materials/waste programs and emergency response systems
- Proficient in inspiring and coaching experienced team members while willing to roll-up own sleeves to contribute
- Strong project management, data analysis, and continuous improvement skills; experience using lean problem-solving tools (Kaizen, Six Sigma, PPI etc.)
- Ability to influence change across a highly matrixed organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with EHS software systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to respond to emergencies and wear appropriate protective equipment
- Travel up to 20% may be required
