Job Summary
Facilitate loading and unloading of cargo to and from trucks, checking freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions, and documents. Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks while building up export cargo and breaking down import flights. Maintain inventory of on-hand freight, warehouse supplies, and airline equipment, ensuring cargo security and reporting incidents or damaged equipment. Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments, entering data into the company's information system as required. Be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, while adhering to safety protocols and completing mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- If required by customer or role access, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency
- Must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces
- Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- Must be able to be alerted to moving vehicles and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities
- Must be able to work around machinery noises
- Must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of trucks, equipment, and cargo
- Warehouse Agents must be able to calculate piece count, weight and dimensions
- Warehouse Agents may be required to use computer systems to track cargo
- Warehouse Agents must be able to manage their time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
