Job Summary
Cargo Screening K9 Handler responsible for conducting screening operations for explosives using an Explosive Detection Canine, maintaining administrative records for work and training, and overseeing the housing, care, maintenance, and welfare of the assigned canine. Must meet TSA-related requirements, pass background checks/drug screens, and obtain TSA Pre-Check. Training provided with potential pathway to direct hire based on certification and training outcomes. Location: Houston, TX. Full-time role with full benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Be a citizen or national of the United States
- Able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment
- Have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma
- Possess valid driver's license (Real ID) and reliable transportation
- Able to pass background check and drug screen
- Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (TSA Pre-Check) through TSA
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- Can read, write, and understand English well enough to carry out written and oral instructions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility
- Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies
- Ability to understand and successfully handle various operational issues
