Job Summary
Cargo Screening K9 Handler responsible for screening operations for explosives and hazardous materials with an Explosive Detection Canine; ensure housing, care, and welfare of the assigned canine; maintain administrative records; TSA-related screenings and credentialing including TSA Pre-Check; training located in Opelika, AL with potential pathway to direct hire; benefits package and competitive pay.
Required Qualifications
- Be a citizen or national of the United States
- Able to pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment
- Have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma
- Possess valid driver's license (Real ID) and reliable transportation
- Able to pass background check and drug screen
- Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (TSA Pre-Check) through TSA
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- Can read, write, and understand English well enough to carry out written and oral instructions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility
- Maintain effective professional relationships with employees and outside individuals and agencies
- Ability to understand and successfully handle various operational issues
