Job Summary
Senior Cargo Operations Manager directs and coordinates cargo handling activities to deliver fast, safe, and compliant service at a high-volume international airport; leads station-wide cargo operations, interfaces with airlines, airport stakeholders, and internal teams; drives safety culture, governance, and performance improvements, and ensures adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements; requires 3-5 years of aviation cargo operations and management experience, strong leadership and planning skills, knowledge of IATA procedures and GSE, and ability to manage a multinational workforce; on-site at Rockford, IL with variable shifts.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years cargo Operations and Management experience within the aviation industry
- sound knowledge of cargo operations and procedures
- management experience in the Airport Cargo Handling Business with track record of cargo handling success
- proven ability to manage a business unit
- familiarity with international airline cargo handling procedures, international aviation safety and security procedures
- strong organizing and planning skills with ability to react quickly to unexpected circumstances
- working knowledge of IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement
- excellent knowledge of cargo/ramp ground support equipment (GSE)
- ability to develop supervisory team and provide succession planning
- ability to work with a multinational workforce and adapt to local station conditions
- ability to read, write, and speak English
- excellent communication skills
- positive, can-do, upbeat personality
- ability to remain calm under pressure
- strong time management skills
- valid US driver's license
- must be at least 18 years of age
- must be able to pass pre-employment testing including drug testing and a physical
- must pass FBI background check and obtain US Customs seal
- flexibility to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
