Job Summary
Examine manifests, bills of lading, and air waybills to determine procedures for accepting or releasing cargo. Compiles documents and performs data entry for import or export shipments while reading aircraft weight and balance instructions. Expedites cargo from the warehouse, assists customers with pick-up and delivery requests, and notifies consignees of arrival dates and customs requirements. Enter billing transactions prior to freight release, authorize final cargo release approvals, and prepare invoices for airline clients. Recognize dangerous goods, work with CBSA and Transport Canada to clear shipments, and meet flights to exchange documents. Complete mandatory security training and hold all required clearances and background checks. Must drive with a valid license, be available seven days a week including holidays, and possess proficiency in MS Office.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have high school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- Capable of repeating repetitive tasks
- Must be flexible and available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances and passing a Transport Canada background check
- Valid driver's license with no violations over the past 5 years
- Familiarity with or ability to learn how to work within an IT cargo system environment
- Proficient in MS Office
