Job Summary
Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in daily living activities to foster independence. Implement individualized habilitation plans focusing on skill development, behavioral management, and social integration. Utilize effective communication skills to engage with clients and families, ensuring clear understanding of goals and progress. Assist clients in navigating community resources and activities, promoting inclusion and participation in social events. Collect and document data on client progress, behaviors, and needs to inform ongoing support strategies. Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to safety protocols and regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including social workers and behavioral health professionals, to deliver comprehensive care. Maintain a safe and supportive environment that encourages positive behavior and personal growth.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism
- Proven ability to provide home and community care while assisting clients with daily living tasks
- Strong caregiving skills combined with the ability to drive clients safely to various locations as needed
- Proficiency in data collection methods relevant to client support and progress tracking
Desired Qualifications
- Background in special education or related fields
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience in behavior management techniques and strategies
- A degree or certification in social work, special education, or a related field
