Job Summary
Assist with personal care, toileting, incontinence care, and safe mobility transfers for a male senior in his home. Provide meal preparation, mealtime assistance, and light housekeeping including vacuuming, dishwashing, laundry, and bathroom cleaning. Offer meaningful companionship, social interaction, and supervision while encouraging the client's independence. Provide reminders and assistance with self-administered medications in accordance with the care plan. This Italian-speaking role supports a client to remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate in Italian
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must meet the required standard on the PSW skills assessment
- Must meet the required standard on the DEARS Drugs and Ethics assessment
- Valid driver's licence and access to an insured vehicle, or reliable transportation to the client's home
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a provincially recognized Personal Support Worker, Certified Nurse Aide, Health Care Aide, or equivalent program
- Previous experience supporting seniors
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach
- Dependability and punctuality
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Respect for the client's privacy, dignity, culture, and personal preferences
- Ability to follow an established care plan and communicate effectively with the office and family
