Caregiver Needed for Lifting And Transfers

Job Summary

Provide full assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation for a fall-risk client in Franklin, Tennessee. Perform safe transfers between chairs, beds, and wheelchairs using approved equipment, while maintaining constant supervision and preventing hazards in the home. Manage light housekeeping, monitor the client's condition, and promptly report any changes or incidents to the office. Work every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM, approximately 16.5 hours weekly, in a home with a small dog.

Required Qualifications

  • Full assistance with activities of daily living
  • Hands-on transfer assistance
  • Understanding of fall prevention requiring constant awareness, close supervision, and proactive safety measures
  • Availability to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Consistent attendance
  • Comfort entering and working in a home with a small household pet
  • Ability to treat the client with dignity, patience, compassion, and respect
  • Physical ability and willingness to safely assist the client with transfers
  • Wheelchair to commode transfers
  • Commode to wheelchair transfers
  • Wheelchair to bed and bed to wheelchair transfers
  • Wheelchair to chair or other approved seating transfers
  • Sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit transfers
  • Toileting-related mobility and clothing-management assistance
  • Repositioning for safety, hygiene, and comfort
  • Use of approved transfer equipment when required by the care plan
  • Ability to explain the transfer process to the client
  • Ability to make sure the client is positioned correctly
  • Ability to properly position the wheelchair or commode
  • Ability to lock the wheelchair brakes before beginning
  • Ability to move footrests, cords, furniture, and other obstacles out of the way
  • Ability to clear and inspect the transfer area
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics
  • Ability to use approved transfer equipment when required
  • Ability to closely monitor the client's balance and comfort
  • Ability to move slowly and avoid rushing or pulling the client
  • Ability to stop immediately if the transfer becomes unsafe
  • Ability to follow the client's care plan and use any required gait belt, Hoyer lift, sit-to-stand lift, or other approved transfer device only after receiving proper training and authorization
  • Ability to protect the client from further injury and contact the Helping Hearts office immediately if a transfer cannot be completed safely
  • Ability to remain alert, attentive, engaged, and safety-focused throughout the entire shift
  • Ability to provide close supervision during standing, walking, toileting, and transfers
  • Ability to stay within a safe assisting distance whenever the client is moving
  • Ability to encourage the client to request assistance before attempting to stand or transfer
  • Ability to maintain a clear and hazard-free environment
  • Ability to check for spills, cords, loose rugs, clutter, poor lighting, and unsafe furniture placement
  • Ability to make sure mobility devices are properly positioned and within reach
  • Ability to make sure the client has appropriate footwear during mobility
  • Ability to keep commonly used items safely within the client's reach
  • Ability to remain especially attentive when the client is tired, weak, distracted, or attempting to toilet
  • Ability to never leave the client unattended during a task when supervision is required
  • Ability to avoid personal-phone use or other distractions that interfere with active supervision
  • Ability to immediately report changes in mobility, balance, strength, or transfer ability
  • Ability to immediately report every fall, near fall, injury, or safety concern
  • Ability to complete all required incident documentation accurately and promptly
  • Ability to observe the client's overall condition and promptly report concerns

  • Ability to help prevent the dog, toys, food bowls, or leashes from becoming fall hazards
  • Ability to follow the client's instructions regarding appropriate interaction with the dog
  • Ability to never allow the pet to interfere with the client's care, supervision, or safety
  • Ability to consistently work every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM
