Job Summary
Conduct personal care tasks including mouth and denture care, shaving, grooming, bathing, toileting, dressing, and medication reminders. Assist with feeding, transferring, ambulation, and body positioning while providing companionship and supervision during community outings. Manage housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms, preparing meals, laundering, running errands, and operating home equipment. Ensure rooms remain clean, change linens, and maintain a safe environment by recognizing signs of abuse or neglect. Maintain current first aid and CPR certification and work independently with confidence.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- high school graduate, have a GED, or demonstrate the ability to read the written personal care services assignment and write adequately to complete required forms and reports of visits
- demonstrate the ability to work well with aged and disabled individuals who have limited functioning capacity
- ability to communicate both verbal and written
- Capable of working responsibly with confidential information
- ability to work independently
- current and active first aid and CPR certification
- physically able to perform the job tasks required and assurance that communicable diseases of major public health concern are not present, as verified by a physician
- knowledge of how to prevent burns, falls, fires; and emergency numbers to contact emergency personnel if required
- Must not have been convicted of a crime substantially related to the dependent population or any violent crime
- ability to recognize the signs of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation and the procedures to follow as required in the Vulnerable Adult Act
