Job Summary
Caregiver/Home Care Aide providing nonmedical in-home support to elderly or disabled clients. Responsibilities include executing the client’s care plan, assisting with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, transfers and ambulation, aiding in prescribed exercises, meal planning and preparation, toilet assistance, light housekeeping and shopping, medication reminders, documenting services, driving to appointments, and completing required training and registration. Must maintain current CA Home Care Aide Registry, pass background checks, adhere to TB testing requirements, and demonstrate empathy, reliability, and ability to follow written care instructions.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Current registration with the State of California Home Care Aide Registry
- Criminal background check and disclosure of any criminal history
- Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training prior to client care and in accordance with CA regulations
- Evidence of tuberculosis testing and verification that the home care aide does not have active tuberculosis
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
- Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
- Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired
- Tact, patience, and good personal hygiene
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance and/or reliable transportation
