Job Summary
DayBreak Adult Day Services seeks a Program Assistant (Caregiver) to lead individual and group activities for participants, assist with meals and medications, provide personal care and safety support, and maintain a clean, organized facility. The role emphasizes compassionate, Christ-centered engagement with adults who have physical, emotional, social, or cognitive impairments, including seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities. Key duties include planning activities, aiding with toileting and transfers, preparing and serving meals, administering medications as trained, and ensuring safety and dignity in daily living tasks. Required to have a High School Diploma or equivalent and pass background/health screening; CNA certification preferred. Ability to work Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with rotating Saturdays; strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass background and health screening
- Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) certification preferred
- Experience working with seniors or adults with disabilities preferred
- Good physical health. Able to work at a fast pace. Able to lift and transfer participants
- Desire to work closely with older adults and individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Capable of handling emergency situations
- Demonstrates sensitivity, empathy, and an interest in working with participants with physical and memory loss or impairment, and individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Reliable, flexible, patient, caring, and have a sense of humor
- Able to work both independently and as a teammate, showing initiative and creativity
