Job Summary
Conduct continuous assessments and evaluations of assigned students on formal and informal levels. Aids students in continuing education, participating in additional training, and connecting with community services for successful program transitions. Assist students in setting short and long-term goals, identifying strengths and career challenges, and resolving personal issues affecting career readiness. Document minimum two monthly counseling sessions for minors and one for adult students, adjusting frequency based on student needs. Review and update information in CIS, perform retrieval efforts, and grant or verify leaves per mandates. Submit written student reports and evaluations to outside agencies or review boards as needed. Participate in joint sessions with resident advisors and mental health consultants to review records and complete special needs requests.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (including 15 semester hours of instruction in social services-related instruction)
- One year experience in counseling or related field
- Experience working with a diverse population of youth
- A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record
