Job Summary
Counsel students and alumni individually and in groups regarding majors, career decisions, internship strategies, networking, resume development, interview skills, salary negotiation, and graduate school planning. Educate students on career development stages, including assessment interpretation and major discernment, while providing electronic feedback on career documents via email and Handshake. Build collaborative relationships with students, advisers, and faculty to develop and present career education programs and workshops, leveraging employer and community resources. Provide professional development and guidance for Peer Career Coaches, manage confidential information, and identify campus-wide outreach needs. Requires a Bachelor's degree in counseling with two years of career development experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Two years of career development experience

- Master's degree in counseling, student development, or a related area
- Knowledge of careers specific to Tacoma and the Puget Sound area
- Familiarity with all academic areas within the UW Tacoma
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging curricula for a wide range of ages and settings
- Experience and knowledge of career development theory and practice
- Experience using MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and Clifton Strengths for Students assessments
- Experience and knowledge of evaluation and assessment methodologies
