Job Summary
Care Team Assistant in the Emergency Department supports LPNs, RNs, NPs, and Physicians by providing direct and indirect patient-care services, including communication with patients/families, assisting with diagnostic imaging, comfort measures, procedure support, navigation, and vital-sign collection under RN supervision. Rotating 12-hour shifts across days/evenings/nights including weekends and holidays in the Halifax area.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or GED
- Graduate from an approved Continuing Care Assistant program
- Provincial Continuing Care Assistant Certification
- Active registration with the Continuing Care Assistant Registry
- Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BLS) within last 12 months or BLS Renewal
- Healthcare experience a plus
- Pediatric experience a plus
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Judgment, problem solving, and decision-making abilities within scope
- Ability to respond to physical demands
- Interest in continuing education
