Job Summary
Administer Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), take and record vital signs, perform lab draws, conduct acute checks, and place Foley catheters under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards while serving as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs. Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and adhering to work area standards. This night shift position rotates across 44 units in the VUH Adult Float Pool, offering exposure from Med-Surg to ICU settings. Shifts run from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am, three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend requirements and rotating schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
- Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
- Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician
- 2+ years of recent (within the last 6 months) direct patient care in a hospital environment
- Current experience in Med/Surg and/or ICU
- Night shift availability (6:45 pm - 7:15 am)
- Availability for weekend shifts
- Attendance at hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment
