Job Summary
Provide communication and liaison between providers and patients while building the physician schedule and maintaining scheduling templates. Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic tests, obtaining referral and authorization requirements per insurance guidelines. Process mail and correspondence, coordinate the transmission and acquisition of patient records, and provide follow-up to patient inquiries by contacting the provider as necessary. Perform additional functions including transcription or medical scribing, assisting with rooming, and supporting legal practice duties. Work full-time Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm in our Plymouth location.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines
- Ability to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
- Ability to demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
- Ability to work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately, and meet deadlines. Prioritize workload effectively
- Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone and email interactions
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 or more hours per day)
- Ability to have frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bending, or reaching within the office environment
- Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds
- Ability to have visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
- Ability to have auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly
- Ability to have manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer)
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Administrative or medical office experience preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred
- Transcription experience, where applicable
- Customer service experience
