Job Summary
Facilitate clear communication for patients regarding medication questions, prescription refills, and lab results. Assist physicians with quick care plan updates and complete assigned tasks and reports timely. Provide vaccines to pediatric patients, conduct in-office testing for conditions like strep and flu, and collect medical history for EHR uploads. Operate as backup for floor nursing staff covering lunches, breaks, and call offs under manager instruction. Escort patients to assigned rooms, assess symptoms, and intervene in emergencies while maintaining excellent bedside manner. Manage clinical supplies and coordinate with front desk staff to ensure efficient patient flow for scheduled and walk-in appointments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited course or program
- Active BLS/ACLS
- 3 years of outpatient nursing experience
- 3 years of vaccination administration
- 2 years of phone triage and EHR use
- Reliable transportation to work
- Ability to travel if needed within the region to other offices
- Ability to see well enough to read emails, documents, reports, etc.
- Ability to hear well enough to communicate with other staff, clients, vendors, etc.
- Ability to hear well enough to assess blood pressure manually using a stethoscope
- Ability to move about the office for prolonged periods of time, including up and down stairs
- Ability to stoop or kneel to pick up items, assist parents and children in performing necessary tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to type and perform technical tasks
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of calling in prescriptions to the pharmacy at the request of the physician
- College classwork in nursing or other related fields
