Job Summary
Answer phone calls, reschedule patient appointments, and triage calls as necessary. Act as a liaison between the Health Services Unit, on-site specialists, and community-based providers while retrieving transcribed medical consultations. Schedule inmates for on-site clinics and book appointments based on urgency and next availability per BOP guidelines. Enter appointment information into FCC Butner and UMMS scheduling programs, complete daily schedule sheets, and maintain monthly attendance calendars. Provide administrative support for clinic operations, maintain physician schedule information, and adhere to strict HIPAA confidentiality guidelines. Attend staff meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years previous related experience
- Previous experience in general office administrative duties – typing, letter writing, filing
- Experience with word processing and computers
- Familiar with medical terminology helpful
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Possess professional image and capability to work with multiple departments
- Ability to handle stressful and difficult situations in a calm and professional manner
- Ability to prioritize needs and function independently
- Ability to remain calm and poised under pressure
- Detail-Oriented
- Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean
- Wears identification while on duty
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures
- Successful completion of the 'Introduction to Correctional Techniques', three-week training course is required
- Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of urinalysis, physical, and background investigation
- All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks
