Job Summary
Assess and monitor clients' behaviors during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse, developing treatment plans to reduce substance abuse or criminal thinking. Facilitate discharge planning, community outreach, and crisis management while running group therapies and education sessions. Meet with clients individually twice weekly, document behavior in group participation and counseling, and complete notes for every interaction. Respond to client complaints efficiently, check orientation completion, and contact families to establish communication schedules. Review client charts for paperwork signatures and complete weekly audits each Friday.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or a GED
- Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency
- at minimum one-year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling
- Familiar with HIPAA/client confidential and personal rights
- Possess a valid License and/or certification in drug and alcohol counseling through an approved Department of Health Care licensing board
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Valid Driver's License and insurable under Sierra Health and Wellness Centers automobile insurance policy
Desired Qualifications
- Two to five years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
