Job Summary
Provide supportive patient care and assist with unit/department operations under registered nurse supervision. Perform unit secretary/clerical functions and attend education programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees. Share responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel within your own skills. Maintain a safe environment and promote efficient, safe operations. This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with no experience necessary; on-the-job training is provided. Candidates must have a CNA certification or meet specific nursing education/licensure criteria, including BLS certification upon hire. The seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment, along with proof of MMR, varicella, and Tdap vaccination.
Required Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course
- Within the past 3 years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examination in any state
- Completed an UAP (unlicensed assistive personnel) program in Missouri or another State (that meets current regulatory requirements) within the past 3 years
- Completed a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country
- Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past 3 years
- Required BLS certification
- Must be willing to receive seasonal influenza vaccine
- Must be willing to receive MMR and/or varicella vaccination if non-immune
- Must have evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005
- Must be willing to supply immunization records as proof of vaccination
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal background investigation
- Must be willing to undergo a drug screen
- Must work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations
- Must not work from home
