Job Summary
Assist in the delivery of client care by providing personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal assistance. Monitor clients' progress and symptoms, document observations on patient charts, and respond to call bells. Utilize mechanical aids such as lifts and wheelchairs for transporting and positioning clients while maintaining a clean environment. Work under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse within a client and family-centered care model. Late internal applications are accepted after on-time applicants have been considered.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 10 and successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively and respectfully
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to successfully complete relevant VCH education, training, and orientation
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment (including Patient Care Information Systems)
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
