Job Summary
Assist the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures, including insertion of catheters, operation of electronic instruments, and calculation of hemodynamic data. Measure cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, intracardiac pressure, and valve flow determinations while maintaining sterile technique and monitoring patient assessment. Demonstrate proficiency in complex clinical skills including IABP, stents, DCA, PTCA, ablations, and pacemakers. Actively participate in orientation and training of new employees and students, assist in equipment maintenance, and maintain confidential patient records. Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety standards while completing required annual education assignments and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate supplemented by coursework in science, anatomy and physiology
- A Cardiovascular Technology program accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body
- A formalized on-the-job cardiac catheterization training program consisting of at least 1,040 combined hours (6 months) of classroom and practical laboratory work
- Completion of an accredited education program such as cardiovascular technology, surgical technology, emergency medical technology, etc.
- BLS certification upon hire
- ACLS certification upon hire or within six (6) months
- Six (6) months of experience in a health related field
- A valid TN EMT (Basic, Advanced, or Licensed Paramedic in the state of TN) license
- A valid CST license
