Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Technologist I will train to assist during diagnostic and therapeutic invasive cardiovascular procedures in the Cath/EP Lab, gaining experience in monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles while maintaining sterile technique. Responsibilities include preparing patients, educating patients and families, entering data into lab logs, stocking supplies, and coordinating with interventional cardiology staff. Requires flexibility to work variable hours including cath lab on-call and adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Performs duties under supervision with progression toward independent contribution as competencies are met; must maintain current BLS/ACLS certifications and a relevant health-science/ radiologic science background.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Science or Accredited Radiologic Science program
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- One year of relevant medical experience (LPN/RT/EMT/Paramedic) or CVT program graduate (preferred)
- Ability to react quickly to emergencies
- Exposure to cardiovascular Cath or electrophysiology procedures
- English communication skills
- Ability to maintain patient safety and prepare supplies/records
- On-hire licensing requirements (ACLS/BLS)
- Certified or trained in preprocedural verification and time-out processes
- Willingness to participate in cath lab call rotation
- Familiarity with Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements
