Cardiovascular Technologist

Assist physicians with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and interventional procedures. Prepare catheters, balloons, and wires; clean and drape sterile fields per AORN standards; and enter patient data into computer systems while monitoring ECG, blood pressure, and hemodynamic parameters. Administer contrast under physician direction, draw arterial blood gases, and manage intra-aortic balloon pumps and arterial/venous lines. Document data, code charges, and equipment usage for billing reports, then discharge and transport patients while instructing them on post-procedure care. Provide patient and family information per policy and respond to complications such as bleeding or pulse loss. Participate in orientation training for new personnel.
