Job Summary
EKG Technician role performing 12-lead EKG, continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring, reporting critical information, ambulatory monitoring review, and potential stress testing; may assist with starting IVs and drawing labs. Position requires high school diploma and Basic Life Support; preferred coursework in EKG/rhythm interpretation and related allied health fields. On-site in Bloomington, IN with a 3x12 schedule, rotating weekends/holidays, and occasional weekend call. Sign-on bonus available to eligible applicants.
Required Qualifications
- Requires high school graduate or equivalent
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
- Coursework in EKG; rhythm interpretation; anatomy; physiology or other related courses preferred
- Experience as an EKG technician; Cardiac Surveillance Technician; Emergency Medical Technician; Cardiovascular Technician; Phlebotomist; Paramedic or equivalent position or a certificate of completion or degree related to rhythm analysis or exercise physiology or related allied health field preferred
- Requires basic computer operations experience and some familiarity with software programs such as Word; Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of electrocardiograph procedures and the EKG manifestations of the entire variety of cardiac arrhythmias in order to identify and effectively communicate significant and/or life threatening cardiac rhythms preferred
- Requires the ability to balance and manage carrying-out multiple tasks simultaneously
- Requires ability to utilize automated menu system to manipulate; process and enhance patient information
- Requires ability to recognize and trouble-shoot equipment problems in order to ensure adequate signal and know when to request support from Clinical Engineering
