Job Summary
Assist physicians with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterization and percutaneous trans luminal angioplasties. Prepare catheters, balloons, and guiding wires; clean, drape, and stock the sterile field per AORN standards. Monitor hemodynamic parameters, administer contrast, and draw arterial blood gases as directed. Document data, enter charges, and transport patients while providing post-procedure care instructions. Maintain inventory of monitors and temporary pacemakers, participate in quality improvement teams, and respond to post-procedure complications. Requires RCIS certification within one year, ACLS upon hire, and a Cardiovascular Technologist training program.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- completion of a Cardiovascular Technologist training program
- related college level education in basic sciences
- RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- CI - Cardiac Interventional Registered Technologist in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (R.T.(R) (CI))
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Desired Qualifications
- In cardiovascular laboratory procedures particularly as relates to cardiac and vascular interventional procedures
