Job Summary
Delivers safe, effective, and independent nursing care for patients recovering from heart transplantation, CABGs, valve repairs, and thoracic aneurysm procedures. Performs thorough assessments, develops individualized care plans, and manages complex post-operative needs including chest tubes, blood transfusions, anti-arrhythmic medications, inotropes, temporary pacing wires, tracheostomies, and LVADs. Documents care accurately and advocates for patients and families while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of Advanced Practice Providers, nutrition, social work, and therapy. Functions in a developing leadership role, including Charge Nurse responsibilities, and engages in quality improvement initiatives to meet organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years
- Recent completion of a re-entry nursing program
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing
- BLS certification
- Active compact/multistate license (eNLC) within 60 days of hire (if completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice)
- 36-75 lbs lifting capability (0-33% of the work day)
- 20-35 lbs lifting capability (34-66% of the workday)
- 10-20 lbs lifting capability (67-100% of the workday)
- Lifting 75 lbs max
- Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Shift work
- Travel may be required
- Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators
Desired Qualifications
- Recent completion of an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role (for Emory LPNs enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025)
- Recent completion of an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role (for Emory Warner Robins, Perry and affiliated Physician Groups location RN Clinicians with an Associate's Degree in Nursing with less than 2 years experience as a new hire or transferring as of 3/29/2026)
