Job Summary
Deliver safe, effective, and independent nursing care using the nursing process for patients recovering from heart transplants, CABGs, valve repairs, and thoracic aneurysm procedures. Perform thorough patient assessments, develop care plans incorporating family input, and document accurately in electronic records. Manage complex post-operative needs including chest tubes, surgical wounds, blood transfusions, anti-arrhythmic medications, inotropes, temporary pacing wires, tracheostomies, and LVADs. Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team, Advanced Practice Providers, nutrition, social work, and therapy during daily rounds. Identify patient learning needs, advocate for families, and participate in quality improvement initiatives to analyze data and recommend policy revisions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years
- Recent completion of a re-entry nursing program
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing
- BLS certification
- Active compact/multistate license (eNLC) within 60 days of hire
