Job Summary

Delivers safe, effective, and independent nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room using the nursing process, including thorough patient assessments, care plan development with family input, and accurate electronic documentation. Functions as a resource for colleagues, advocates for patients, and works within an interdisciplinary team while assuming Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned. Identifies needs for policy revisions based on evidence-based research, analyzes data to improve patient care, and engages in professional growth through the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. Requires a BSN or ADN with recent clinical experience, BLS certification, and Georgia RN licensure. Involves medium-heavy physical demands including lifting up to 75 lbs, frequent standing, and exposure to blood-borne pathogens and chemicals.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years
  • Recent completion of a re-entry nursing program
  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years
  • Current LPNs employed within the Emory Healthcare (EHC) system who have completed an accredited RN program and obtain RN licensure
  • Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Additional certifications based on department and specialty
  • 36-75 lbs lifting (occasionally)
  • 20-35 lbs lifting (34-66% of the workday)
  • 10-20 lbs lifting (67-100% of the workday)
  • Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs
  • Occasional to frequent standing & walking
  • Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
  • Blood-borne pathogen exposure

Desired Qualifications

  • Emory LPNs enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role
