Job Summary
Direct cardiovascular operating room operations for a 6-room department, overseeing 36 FTEs and ensuring every patient achieves desired outcomes without harm. Manage financial aspects including budget development, staffing models, and cost optimization while establishing department goals aligned with organizational strategy. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and CMS requirements, integrate clinical and financial data for strategic decision-making, and promote research and evidence-based practices. Model relationship-centered leadership for nursing staff, manage on-call and late call teams for 24/7 coverage, and collaborate with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical outcomes. Build and retain high-performing teams through recruitment, coaching, and performance management within a Magnet-designated facility serving as a regional referral center.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with MBA, MHA, or related healthcare degree
- Current North Carolina RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- National Nursing Leadership Certification required within 1 year of hire or by signed commitment letter
- Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience
- Open heart surgical experience required
- Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, Internet/Intranet, and email
- Demonstrated expertise in cardiovascular operating room operations and cardiac surgery programs
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification
- Experience in Magnet-designated facilities
- Background managing independent CVOR departments with hybrid room capabilities
