Job Summary
Assist the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab, including preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires, and injection of contrast media and other medication as directed. Provide safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and caring way by incorporating differences into the provision of care and integrating knowledge, skill, and experience to meet patient needs. Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others while using an integrated approach toward patient outcomes. Use standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery and incorporate data to continuously improve practice and enhance outcomes. Ensure improvement in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in lifelong learning and serving as a resource, preceptor, and mentor.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in cardiovascular invasive procedures
- Knowledge of sterile field preparation
- Ability to select and prepare instruments and supplies
- Skill in manipulation of cardiac catheters and guidewires
- Ability to inject contrast media and other medication as directed by a physician
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Understanding of other clinical disciplines
- Ability to use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes
- Knowledge of standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery
- Ability to incorporate data and information to continuously improve care and practice
- Commitment to life long learning
