Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Associate Needed for Locum Tenens Coverage atOR in Indiana

Job Summary
Provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 24-hour call on weekends. Conduct morning rounding on 5 to 8 patients, update care plans, write orders, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary care team. Perform post-operative tasks including chest tube and pacing wire removal, wound care, and discharge planning. Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic procedures and perform vein harvesting using the Maquet system. Manage approximately 10 outpatient consults daily. All clinical documentation is maintained through the EPIC EMR system.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certification
- Prescriptive Authority
- Cardiothoracic surgery experience
- EPIC EMR system proficiency
- Ability to perform morning rounding on 5 to 8 cardiothoracic patients
- Ability to update care plans
- Ability to write orders
- Ability to coordinate with the multidisciplinary care team
- Ability to perform post-operative care tasks such as chest tube and pacing wire removal
- Ability to perform wound care
- Ability to perform discharge planning
- Ability to serve as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Ability to perform vein harvesting using the Maquet system
- Ability to manage approximately 10 consults per day
- Availability for weekday hours Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Availability for night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Availability for 24-hour call on weekends
