Job Summary
Provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 24-hour call on weekends. Manage morning rounding on 5 to 8 patients, update care plans, write orders, coordinate with the multidisciplinary team, and handle post-operative tasks including chest tube and pacing wire removal, wound care, and discharge planning. Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic procedures and perform vein harvesting using the Maquet system. Manage approximately 10 outpatient consults daily with all documentation maintained in the EPIC EMR system. Support staff include Williard, David, Marie, and CT surgeons.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certification
- Prescriptive Authority
- Cardiothoracic surgery coverage experience
- Night call capability (4 PM to 7 AM)
- 24-hour call capability (weekends)
- Morning rounding experience
- Post-operative care tasks experience (chest tube and pacing wire removal, wound care, discharge planning)
- First assist experience in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Vein harvesting experience using the Maquet system
- Consult management experience (10 consults per day)
- Clinical documentation experience with EPIC EMR system
