Job Summary
Provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 24-hour call on weekends. Conduct morning rounding on 5 to 8 patients, update care plans, write orders, coordinate with the multidisciplinary team, and manage post-operative tasks including chest tube and pacing wire removal, wound care, and discharge planning. Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic procedures and perform vein harvesting using the Maquet system. Manage approximately 10 outpatient consults daily with all documentation maintained in the EPIC EMR system. Support staff include Williard, David, Marie, and CT surgeons.
Required Qualifications
- Board Certification
- Prescriptive Authority
- Cardiothoracic surgery coverage experience
- EPIC EMR system proficiency
- Ability to serve as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Ability to perform vein harvesting using the Maquet system
- Availability for night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Availability for 24-hour call on weekends
- Ability to perform morning rounding on 5 to 8 cardiothoracic patients
- Ability to update care plans and write orders
- Ability to coordinate with the multidisciplinary care team
- Ability to perform post-operative care tasks such as chest tube and pacing wire removal
