Job Summary
Cardiothoracic Operating Room Nurse responsible for peri-operative patient care from assessment through evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and standards. Roles include planning and providing professional nursing care for peri-operative patients, coordinating with physicians and interdepartmental staff, managing supplies and equipment, and contributing to the marketing of operating room services to medical staff. Requires RN licensure, graduation from an accredited nursing program, ACLS and CPR certifications, and typically six months of OR experience. Full-time position with 8-hour shifts (5x8), rotating weekends/holidays/call. Preferred qualifications include one year of medical-surgical and/or OR experience and progressive leadership skills. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- RN licensure in the state of practice
- ACLS (if not current, coworker will be scheduled in next available class)
- CPR
- Six months OR experience at Mercy Hospital
- Knowledge of room setup, instruments and equipment needs (including setting up the sterile field and troubleshooting the equipment)
- Knowledge of mixing and/or administration of all specialty products (i.e., medications, hemostatic agents, etc.)
- Proficiency in Level I requirements as defined per policy
- Provide annual in-service specific to clinical ladder specialty area, as defined per policy
